Helen's Times Were A-Changing:
Helen “Cookie” Ohlson has been on the Delaware writing scene since she became one of the founders of the Delaware Literary Connection in 1995. Her interviews with recipients of the Common Wealth Awards have been published in literary and press newsletters, as well as the DLC’s first anthology, Terrains.
Helen is an award winning journalist who has published articles of local interest in Delaware Today, Delaware Pets, and The News Journal.
She has won an Honorable Mention award from the Delaware Division of the Arts for fiction, as well as awards from the Delaware Press Association for Editing, Feature Writing and Poetry.
In 2006, Helen was selected by the then Poet Laureate, Fleda Brown, to attend a DDOA Writers’ Retreat in Cape Henlopen. Helen’s poetry has often appeared in both print and online publications. She enjoys reading her poetry at local venues.
Presently, Helen works as a free-lance editor while she is preparing her novel, Dory's Game, to send out for publication. She considers herself lucky to live in a very supportive artists’ community with Nick, her hapless, but lovable, oneeyed Weimaraner.
